Memo For Story #3

My story topic is about a cashier who works at Super One on East Superior Street and I wanted to know her daily routine and what every second is like working there during a pandemic. I asked her questions about procedures, what is different than it was before, what happens to people who don’t wear masks, things like that.

I think that this is a story worth reading because I was pretty intrigued by some of the measures they go through to ensure that they are doing their job safely and especially since that is the grocery store that I shop at (and I'm sure other UMD Students do too) I think they would want to know what big chains like Super One are doing to keep everyone safe.

I have talked to one cashier already and I plan to talk to one more just to get a different insight one what an average day is like working there. I might try and get a person who stocks the items just for the sake of variety.

I have only talked to one person so far, but obviously I plan to talk to at least 2–3 more people.

In terms of narrative, I have a couple different ideas of how I want to write it. The one thing that I know for sure is instead of writing from a 3rd person unbiased perspective like I would write in a normal news story, I think that I want to sort of write this story from the perspective of the people who work at Super One. Like in a very similar way that we saw the bird story written in. I plan to have a lot of fun writing this story and try to take different approaches in writing it than the other stories that I have written this semester.
